Choosing Optimism Even When It’s Hard

What is optimism? Optimism is having the ability to see the bright side of things even when it looks bleak. Choose to be happy no matter what life throws at you. Even if things aren’t looking the way you thought they would, choose to always find happiness in the little things. For example, I love the rain. I love thunderstorms, lightening, and most importantly …… rain! I don’t know what it is about the sound of it that gives me comfort and peace. I don’t like how dreary and cloudy it looks WHILE it’s raining, but after the rain it’s beautiful. That’s one of the little things that I see as a positive, while others see it as a negative.

Remember that no matter what you do, there will be someone out there that doesn’t want you to succeed. Instead of getting angry and constantly trying to fight against the tide, try going with it. I am a firm believer in reaping what you sow. Put out so much good into the world that it would be darn near impossible for anything bad to come back to you. I know what you’re thinking, bad things happen to good people ALL the time! Why should I continue to believe nothing bad will happen to me?

Simple. It’s not that I believe nothing bad will ever happen to me, I’m just choosing to believe that in due time everything will work out. If I don’t believe that good will eventually find its way into my life, I will NEVER be happy. Happiness is literally the best way to live your life, if I’m not happy it affects everything about me. I won’t be able to think clearly and I won’t trust my instincts. My decisions will always be made out of fear and under the assumption that I can’t win. I choose to look at things through rose-colored lenses because I figure it can’t get any worse. The beauty in choosing to see the glass as half full instead of half empty is always having something to look forward to. If I have something to look forward to then I have something to continuing living for.

I want you to repeat these words to yourself. I’m not going to be sad for the rest of my life! I’m not going to live in fear! I will get everything I deserve! I will help people to the best of my intentions! I am responsible for my own happiness! I REFUSE to let anyone else ruin that! I WILL be happy by any means necessary! If anyone doesn’t agree with these self-affirmations they don’t need to be in your life. Period!

God is my provider and I love Him with all of my heart, BUT my human (vs spiritual) side needs something to cling to. When we need something right here right now, we often get into things that are worthless and leave us with the same emptiness. A lot of us are so caught up in needing instant gratification that we go for all of the wrong things in life. I choose sunshine and rainbows (figuratively speaking) among other HEALTHY things that make me happy.

Hello thanks for reading! I hope everything works itself out in your life. I hope everyone is staying safe during this pandemic! Remember the safety of those around you, this should teach us to be more mindful of the next person. My family and I were affected by it and I am angered by people who don’t take it seriously. Stay Home!
